The flag of Kazakhstan was adopted on June 4, 1992, after the country gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The design was created by Shaken Niyazbekov.
The flag of Kazakhstan consists of a sky blue background with a gold sun with 32 rays above a soaring golden steppe eagle in the center. On the hoist side, there is a national ornamental pattern called “koshkar-muiz” (the horns of the ram) in gold.
The flag of Kazakhstan beautifully encapsulates the nation’s identity, heritage, and aspirations for the future through its colors and symbols.
